Founded in 1922
Founded in 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia, on the principles that undergirded its fight for civil rights and against discrimination, bigotry, and hatred felt at the hands of the Ku Klux Klan, AHEPA is the largest and oldest grassroots association of American citizens of Greek heritage and Philhellenes with more than 400 chapters across the United States, Canada, and Europe.

At AHEPA Peter Karounos Bronx Chapter 175, we follow the national mission to promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, family and individual excellence through community service and volunteerism.

Our Chapter's History
Our Chapter has a history going back to 1928. Within 6 years of the National Organization being formed,
Chapter #175 Bronx was established. Part of our charge is to document the story with its struggles and successes.

AHEPA Bronx Chapter #175 proudly sponsored the G.A.I. team in the 2nd annual Hellenic History Tournament, organized by AHEPA District 6. This year’s team—Theodore Tsougranis, Nicholas Kirka, and Sophia Papaelias—placed 3rd, narrowly missing the $1,500 prize by one question. The competition tested knowledge of ancient, medieval, and modern Greek history, with the 1st place team advancing to Nationals for a chance to win $10,000. Our Chapter remains committed to supporting this enriching and inclusive event each year.

Bronx Chapter 175 joined Hellenes and Philhellenes from across the Nation to raise awareness on policy matters on Capitol Hill and more. AHEPA Bronx Chapter #175 proudly sponsored a gift for a child in need at St. Basil’s Academy in Garrison, NY. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity, toys filled the space, bringing joy to the children. Our chapter's gift was presented to a young boy named Karmin.

We were thrilled to host another memorable Christmas celebration this year!
A special shout out to our Chapter Secretary Ron Petrides who provided the live band, Brother Jimmy Mitsios who provided the food, as well as my wife Julia and daughter Anastasia who handled the decorations. We also honored with District 6 leadership including Present Lieutenant Governor Gus Constantine and past District Governors Dean Maskos and Peter Ragoussis.
